Summer Hermitage Farm Wedding
A Summer Wedding Celebration at Hermitage Farm
Dani and Kris’s wedding at Hermitage Farm was the perfect blend of personal meaning and classic Kentucky charm. Although they had been married for two years (Kris is a Navy pilot and had been deployed after their initial ceremony) they finally had the chance to celebrate with their friends and family in the place they love.
A Relaxed Morning Getting Ready Together
Instead of spending the morning apart, Dani and Kris got ready together inside the Hermitage farm mansion moving easily between groups of friends and family. This approach made the day feel even more intimate and personal—it was less about staged moments and more about enjoying time with the people they love. Dani’s sisters fixed her hair and helped with all of the final touches, and their dog Winston was there throughout the whole morning.
A Barefoot Wedding Ceremony at Hermitage Farm
Their ceremony took place on the front lawn of the historic Hermitage mansion. Dani was barefoot with Kris on the front porch, wearing a handmade gown by Jane Bourvis. The dress, created from antique textiles, gave it a timeless feel that fit the setting perfectly. The guests gathered standing in a crowd in front of the couple for the short ceremony officiated by the bride’s brother-in-law.
A Navy Pilot Wedding and Reunion with Loved Ones
Kris’s return from deployment made the day especially meaningful. This wasn’t just a wedding, it was a reunion for both families and Kris’ Navy friends who have been scattered around the world. It’s often the case with weddings that it’s the only place and time to gather friends and family together in one location, but that felt especially true for a tight-knit group of friends who serve in the military. Guests came ready to celebrate Dani and Kris and the chance to finally be together in one place.
A Unique Cocktail Hour Tradition
During cocktail hour in the greenhouse courtyard, Dani and Kris shared one of their favorite traditions that began with Dani’s sister’s wedding in Mexico. They had 80 shot glasses made entirely of ice, each filled with tequila. After taking the shot, each person tried to throw the ice glass toward a bell set up on the lawn. Every successful hit brought cheers from the crowd—it was a fun, interactive way to kick off the evening and made for some great candid photos.
Dinner, Dancing, and an All-Night Celebration at Hermitage Farm and Barn8
As the sun began to set, guests moved to Barn8, the restaurant and catering space on the Hermitage Farm property, for dinner and dancing. Some guests wandered the grounds around the greenhouse taking in the spring sunset, while others stayed on the dance floor.
